Probiotics
Probiotics are bacteria that
help to maintain the natural balance of organism.
The average human digestive systems has about
400 types of probiotic bacteria such as Lactobacillus
acidophilus, often found in Yogurt, yeast. Dietary
suppments may also be used to reset the levels
of friendly bacteria within the stomach.
Probiotics, generally, are used
to offset the effects of diarrhea that results
from antibotics. This anti-biotic or anti-biology
medicine tends to kill friendly and bad bacteria.
The ingestion of probiotics helps to replace lost
bacteria in the intestinal tract and restores
normal bowel function.
Probiotics are being used and evaluated for the
treatment of inflammatory bowel disease, colon
cancer and irritable bowel syndrome.
